ProSonics used the SIA SmaartLive acoustical measurement and analysis tool to identify and isolate the source of a long-standing nuisance noise problem is a classroom at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario.
This low frequency, pulsating noise was causing disturbances in the classroom, and also occasional reports of nausea and illness among faculty and students. The noise was determined to be a low frequency resonance caused by mechanical equipment in the school heating system, but the problem was the varying amplitude (volume) of the noise - it was attracting attention to itself. The source was traced to pumps in the heating water circulation system that were not optimally configured.
After several hours of measurement and analysis, as well as reviewing the drawings for the heating system, a simple solution was developed and implemented that did not require the expected installation of special vibration damping and isolating equipment, major piping changes, or mechanical equipment changes.

Contact ProSonics for more information about this solution, or to arrange for an investigation of your noise problem.
