ProSonics was called to investigate poor sound quality from the Sudbury Arena sound system.
The sound system is a temporary system installed to cover the facility after the replacement of the suspended scoreboard over the ice, and while a permanent system is being designed. After several good sounding events, something occurred to cause low levels and significant amounts of distortion. Concerns about the speakers being damaged were raised, but little time was available to determine the source of the problem, and to implement a solution - a significant hockey game was scheduled for 24 hours later, and the public was vocally complaining in the newspapers and to arena management.
ProSonics was able to go into the facility, troubleshoot the system and identify the problem and implement a repair on-site to solve the problem. This work was hampered by a complete unfamiliarity with the building system, and having to implement the repair at centre ice between other arena bookings. Nonetheless, a successful service call, and while there have been no "letters to the editor" praising the work, the complaints immediately stopped. Another job well done! |
